Abstract:The disadvantages of traditional gravity retaining walls system such as the high project expense, maintenance frequency, negative effect on ecology, etc. are more and more evident so that it can hardly meet with the demand of mass society. It is an major issue nowadays in the field of hydraulic engineering to enable the retaining walls to cater for ecological requirements as well as the safety standard and cost cutdown effect. It thus calls for some new-style construction. This dissertation is concerned about such a new type of product named self-embedded Green retaining walls. This wall system enjoys good reputation for its seven major advantanges, including the highly-efficient construction manners, low cost, widespread adoption, reliable flexural structure, well-developed durability, desired ecological fuction and its pleasing outlook. It will surely play a significant role in the retaining walls system inovation and slope system hardening-softening inversion process and consequently make great contribution to the construction programs environmental protection target.
